Siam Park, where the fun and the water flow
Costa Adeje is continually adding to its reputation as a bold progressive area for entertainment in the south of Tenerife, and just behind the bar and night club hotspot of Playa de Las Americas, Europe’s largest water theme park is making a big splash.
Siam Park draws on the mystic colours and senses of the far east and adds modern excitement on 14 rides that are designed to thrill.
The majestic twin towered entrance is a gateway to spectacle and fun which has set 5 world records including the longest lazy river.
The Sawasdee meanders round the park as you float slowly on an inflatable tyre, pulled up an 8 metre climb and later plunged down the rapids that lead under the Tower of Power for an unusual view of the parks most challenging ride.
The 28 metre high tower is the launch pad for a water chute that speeds you down and through the fish tank in a sealed section before finishing in a splash pool. If that’s a bit too exciting for you, there’s always the Mekong Rapids, Volcano or The Giant, all guaranteed to propel you through a twisting series of water tubes before a watery splash down. Smaller children can explore the many ways to climb and slither their way through The Lost City, ending in a more sedate slide into the pool area.
Visually the park is stunning, and even the relaxing 9,000 square metre imported white sand beach struggles to compete with the imposing Wave Palace where a gong signals sporadic crescendos of water from its man made waves. For swimmers, these are adjusted to add a thrill to their bathing, but for the surf school, they can be cranked up to 3 metre high waves.
There are 5 bars and restaurants scattered around the park, for those quieter moments, and there’s even a amphitheatre above the park which holds regular sporting events. Free buses pick up from around the resorts and with day tickets ranging from 18 euros for kids to 28 euros for adults, it’s good value for a different days entertainment.
